Longines 1950's Conquest Automatic Watch

Fitted with a OEM buckle & new  sternkreuz armoured acrylic crystal.

This Vintage Longines Conquest calendar is a classic from Longines rich past when they were a truly great independent manufacture up there with some of the best that Switzerland had to offer.

It's no wonder Longines keep dipping into their back catalogue to reproduce their greatest years, although no longer to the same level as these vintage offerings.

The Longines in house calibre 19AS is running perfectly on the timegrapher. Strong amplitude with no beat error & + 13 seconds a day.

It has a lovely patina to the dial where there is such a warm colour as the cream dial has now got a warm golden champagne hue to it.

The  thick double leaf gold applied indices with  3, 6, 9 & 12 gold  numerals give this a perfect symmetry & depth to the dial & very rare to find this particular dial configuration on this model.

The outer gold ring that runs between the indices adds  a extra finish & interest to the dial. The caseback  has that beautiful enamel applied to the Conquest  fish  logo.

It has the following measurements

36mm, wide excluding crown , 38mm with crown , lug to lug 43 mm, and a depth of 13mm with crystal as this watch was originally designed as a sports watch.

It has a good wrist presence due to its dimensions and thick long lugs. I have paired it on a lovely Rios Burgandy calf skin leather strap (£30) so it's ready to wear & enjoy with a quadruple signed Longines ,dial, crown & buckle.

These are increasing in value, and the new versions can not hold a candle to the originals as faithful as they try to be. This is from the Longines golden era and when they were an independent manufacturer up there with the likes of Rolex, Omega.
